The beta factory images of Android L Developer Preview version are officially available for only LG Nexus 5 smartphone and the Asus Nexus 7 tablet devices exclusively. According to "Chainfire", only little few changes are required to the root script on SuperSU flashable zip file to make it compatible for Android L Rooting. For the installation of SuperSU, users first need to have a CWM Recovery and TWRP Recovery. How to Root Android L Developer Preview via CWM Recovery On Nexus 5 and Nexus 7
Step 1: Turn-Off your Nexus 5 / Nexus 7 and boot your device into Recovery Mode, to do this, Follow these steps. (Press and hold Volume Down key and Power key simultaneously, until you see START written on your device with an arrow around it.
Step 2: Now you need to press Volume Down key two times, until recovery option appears on your device.
Step 3: Press Volume Up button to progress into recovery mode.
Step 4: Now, take a Nandroid Backup of your important data by going to; Backup and Restore and select Backup.
Step 5: After that, just select Install zip from sdcard >> Choose zip from sdcard. Go to the location, where you have saved files and then select the "SuperSU file". (Repeat this step for "Boot files" installation too).
Step 6: Now, You can go back to the recovery mode main menu and choose "Reboot System Now" option for device rebooting after the installation of both "SuperSU and Boot files". Congratulations!! You have successfully Rooted Android L Developer Preview on Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 via CWM Recovery.

Note: You need to follow the similar Step 1, Step 2, Step 3 and Step 6 as mentioned in CWM Recovery tutorial above, Just replace the Step 4 and Step 5 by below guide.
Step 4: First take a Nandroid Backup, just go to Backup and choose all check boxes. Now swipe on the Swipe to confirm option at the bottom of screen to confirm the action.
Step 5: After that. Select Install and navigate to the location, where you have saved files and then select the "SuperSU file". Now, Go to the bottom of the screen and do a swipe on Swipe to confirm flash option to begin installing the root. (Repeat this step for "Boot files" installation too).
Now, follow Step: 6 as mentioned in CWM Recovery guide above. Congratulations!! You have successfully Rooted Android L Developer Preview on Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 via TWRP Recovery.
